The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique

Along with the manual adjustments that most people are familiar with another method Dr. Haley likes to use is the Activator method. The Activator method uses a small FDA-approved hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting tool to deliver a gentle force (impulse) to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal vertebrae or joint. It is an alternative to the traditional manual form of spinal manipulation known as high-velocity low amplitude (HVLA) thrust.

The Activator tool is spring-loaded and delivers a quick, low-force impulse at specific points. One advantage is the speed of the device. The instrument is so quick (300 times faster than adjustments by hand!) that the body’s muscles are less likely to tense in response, and resist the treatment. The lack of muscle resistance facilitates the treatment’s effectiveness.

If you have any further questions about the device/technique please do not hesitate to ask Dr. Haley. You may also visit the website for further information.
